Windows Vista

is a whole new ballgame in the Windows Family. It has a lot of crap that is set up for protection from yourself but makes the system useless. One such program that ships with certain Vista Packages is “Data Execution Prevention”. It kept closing my browsers and Outlook and such. I could not find a way to turn it off, so I wrote the nice people at Microsoft and they told me the secret. Here are the steps provided to me by Microsoft(You have to contact them, directly if this doesn’t work and then once they respond dend them a screenshot as follows):

Step 1: Disable the Data Execution Prevention (DEP) feature

======================

1. Click the Start button->All Programs->Accessories.

2. Right click Command Prompt and select “Run as administrator”.

3. Click Continue when th User Account Control window appears.

4. Type the following command and press Enter:

bcdedit.exe /set {current} nx AlwaysOff

5. Restart the computer and test the issue./span>
